Romantic Ideas Valentine´s Day in Peru
Parque del Amor (Lima)
This beautiful space is located on the Malecon of the well-known Miraflores district. Founded precisely on Valentine’s Day 1993, it has some sculptures such as “El Beso” (The Kiss), by Peruvian artist Víctor Delfín or a great Cupid of the renowned Marcelo Wong. The Parque del Amor (Love Park) also has a series of mosaics with phrases or poems that celebrate love and passion.
Puente de los Suspiros (Lima)
The Puente de los Suspiros (The Bridge of Sighs) -although small- has a special charm that made it deserving of a song by the deceased limeña singer Chabuca Granda. Also inaugurated on February 14th, 1876, this bridge was destroyed in the Pacific War that took place against Chile and rebuilt again years later. From its boards you can see one of the most beautiful sunsets of the Pacific Ocean, is probably one of the most romantic places in Lima.
Floating Islands of Uros (Puno)
Who has not wanted to sleep on the small island of a lake as mystical as Lake Titicaca? The floating islands of Uros are built on a marine rockrose called torora, which is replaced every two months to avoid deterioration. On this island we can hear stories of the voice of its inhabitants and even go fishing or live ancient traditions of pre-Hispanic times.
Gocta Falls (Amazonas)
Perhaps one of the most romantic experiences you can have is watching the sun rise next to one of the highest and most beautiful waterfalls in the world. We can live this experience only 44 kilometers from the city of Chachapoyas, in the northern part of the Peruvian Amazon. The surroundings of this waterfall are home to more than 100 birds (among which the rock cock stands out) or up to 20 species of mammals.
Sailing on the Amazon river (Loreto)
One of the most romantic getaways to surprise your partner.Imagine sitting next to your lover in the jacuzzi of a luxury cruise sailing the waters of the impressive Pacaya and Samiria National Reserve, an hour and a half from the jungle town of Iquitos. This natural lung of the world is known as the “Selva de los Espejos” (Jungle of Mirrors) because of the beauty of its rivers, its 80 lagoons and its vegetation, where 1025 vertebrates and up to 965 species of plants live. Indispensable to take a refreshing bath to palliate the heat of the jungle in Belluda Caño and swim next to the enigmatic Amazon pink dolphin.
Observe the tutelary volcanoes of Arequipa (Arequipa)
One of the most characteristic landscapes of Peru is the famous volcanoes that are protecting the southern city of Arequipa: the amazing Misti, Chachani and Picchu Picchu. The beautiful’ Ciudad Blanca’, known as the white ashlar from which the Plaza de Armas and its surroundings were built, offers an ideal view of these protective “mountain gods” from one of its many terraces. Most of them offer some of the most characteristic dishes of the famous Arequipa gastronomy with which we will be able to surprise our loved one even more.
Considered the “sister city” of Machu Picchu, this marvel of Inca architecture has the charm of offering unparalleled views from the top of the hill where it is located, which can only be accessed after a trekking of minimum 2 days. Despite the effort and altitude that exceeds 3,000 meters above sea level, reaching our goal with the person we love will be the best reward we can have.
Machu Picchu (Cusco)
The famous Inca citadel and one of the 7 Wonders of the World is undoubtedly one of the most romantic places on the planet. With the beautiful postcard of Machu Picchu in the background, hundreds of men have asked their partners to marry in this incomparable setting. It is impossible not to realize at least once in a lifetime this journey with the person we love most.
But that’s not all, another Valentine’s Day idea that will impress your partner is to visit one of the romantic restaurants in Lima. Is there anything more passionate than having a date at a restaurant by the sea or a romantic candlelit dinner?
